ALEMI was founded in Zurich with a simple belief: beauty and function should never have to compete.

It is a principle deeply rooted in Swiss design – where clarity, precision and purpose define what lasts. This approach has shaped ALEMI from the very beginning, from the way we design each piece to the details we choose to leave out.

Zurich is woven into ALEMI in more ways than one. Every bag in our collection is named after a place in the city we call home – a reference to where the brand began and continues to grow.

For Swiss National Day, we are celebrating these roots with a limited edition of three signature styles: LETTEN, LETTEN SMALL and TECHNOPARK in Swiss Red, finished with a subtle cross-stitch detail. Limited to just 140 pieces in total.

Handmade in Italy, because craftsmanship this precise needs hands, not machines. Every piece is made in a small family atelier just across the Swiss border – by around 15 craftspeople we know by name.

In the 1950s, Swiss designer Max Bill, based in Zürich, led a movement called die gute Form, "good form," arguing that a well-made object shouldn't separate function from beauty, one produces the other. That principle, developed in Zürich, became what's known internationally as Swiss Style.

In 1954, he designed a stool for the Ulm School that was never only a stool. Turned over, it's a tray. Stacked, a shelf. Set beside a chair, a table. One object, several functions, no extra parts.

LETTEN, in red, works the same way. Worn on the shoulder, cross-body, or as a backpack. Internal compartments keep things in place, an outside pocket hooks onto a suitcase handle. One bag, not four.
